MD House

Copenhagen, Denmark
2016 —— 2017

This 17th century house is located at the very heart of Copenhagen. The internal spaces were transformed and simplified and some walls were opened up to let in more natural light. The project reflects strong architectural sensitivity, making use of both modern and existing elements. Essence, abstraction and purity are the leitmotif of this home. A limited array of colours and the combination of rough beams with the smooth surface of natural stone creates a rugged but elegant atmosphere. The tactility of the materials and through careful detailing form a comfortable house that encapsulates the essence of living. The rigour of the design in combination with the sensual language, respecting the existing architectural elements, is key to the success of the architecture.
